How to connect Sawgrass SG500 and SG1000 to computer via wi-fi

Comprehensive Guide for Setting Up Wi-Fi on Sawgrass SG500 & SG1000 Printers

This detailed page is designed to simplify the initial Wi-Fi setup for your Sawgrass SG500 and SG1000 printers. We understand Wi-Fi can sometimes be challenging, so we've made this guide as detailed as possible.

Wi-Fi Connection Requirements and Setup Tips:

  • Only the Sawgrass SG500 and SG1000 models are equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities.
  • Ensure you have your network password ready before starting the setup process.
  • Your printer must connect to a 2.4GHz wireless network.
  • A signal strength of 75% or higher is recommended. Lower signal strength may result in connection drops or slow printing.
  • Both the printer and the PC must be on the same network (SSID) for proper setup.
  • To enable wireless functionality, the LAN Type on the printer must be set to Wireless LAN.

How to Set the LAN Type: The "LAN Type" determines how your printer connects, whether via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.

  1. Press the [Menu] button.
  2. Use the Up or Down arrow button to navigate to [System Settings], and press [OK].
  3. Scroll to [Interface Settings] using the arrow buttons, then press [OK].
  4. Select [Network] and press [OK].
  5. Choose [LAN Type] and press [OK].
  6. Select [Wireless LAN] for a wireless connection, then press [OK].

Connecting Your Printer to Wi-Fi: Once the printer is set up for Wi-Fi, there are two primary methods to connect it to your wireless network:

  • Method 1: Using the WPS Button on Your Router
  • Method 2: SSID Auto Search with Manual Password Entry

After connecting, it's crucial to verify the signal strength. We recommend a signal strength of 75% or above for a stable connection.

Method 1: WPS Button Setup

  1. Press the [Menu] button.
  2. Navigate to [System Settings] and press [OK].
  3. Scroll to [Interface Settings] and press [OK].
  4. Select [Wireless LAN] and press [OK].
  5. Choose [Wireless LAN Easy Setup] and press [OK].
  6. Select [Push Button Method] and press [OK].
  7. Press the [Start] selection key.
  8. Press the WPS button on your wireless router.
  9. Press the [Exit] selection key.

Method 2: SSID Auto Search

  1. Press the [Menu] button.
  2. Navigate to [System Settings] and press [OK].
  3. Scroll to [Interface Settings] and press [OK].
  4. Select [Wireless LAN] and press [OK].
  5. Choose [Wireless LAN Easy Setup] and press [OK].
  6. Select [SSID Auto Search] and press [OK].
  7. When "Searching for a network... Please wait." appears, choose the SSID and press [OK].
  8. Enter your wireless password, then press [Accept].
  9. If "Connection succeeded" appears, press [Exit]. If "Connection failed" appears, verify the password and network.

The blue wireless light next to the LCD panel should now be on, confirming a successful connection.
