What's the difference between the SG500 and SG1000?

The primary difference is media size. The SG500 supports up to 8.5" x 14", while the SG1000 supports up to 11" x 17" — making it the better choice for oversized graphics, gang sheets, and higher-volume production. Both printers use the same VersiFlex ink system and Sawgrass Creative Studio software.

Does VersiFlex work on cotton and natural fabrics?

Yes — that's the primary advantage of VersiFlex over standard sublimation. VersiFlex is specifically formulated to bond with cotton and natural fiber blends using a heat press transfer process. SubliJet UHD requires polyester or poly-coated substrates. If you're printing on cotton apparel, VersiFlex is the correct system.

Do I need a heat press to use this system?

Yes. The SG1000 prints your design onto VersiFlex Light transfer paper, which is then heat-pressed onto your substrate. A heat press is not included in this bundle. If you need a heat press recommendation, contact us — our team can advise based on your product mix.

What software is required, and is it free?

Sawgrass Creative Studio is the required design and print management software for all Sawgrass printers. It is cloud-based and free for SG1000 owners. Creative Studio handles color profiles, substrate presets, and print queue management — no third-party RIP software needed.

Can I switch to VersiFlex if my SG1000 previously used UHD or EasySubli inks?

No. Once a Sawgrass printer has been used with SubliJet UHD or EasySubli inks, switching to VersiFlex risks contaminating the ink lines and print head. Sawgrass recommends a dedicated printer for each ink system. If you're starting fresh, this bundle gives you a clean VersiFlex setup from day one.

Can VersiFlex print on dark-colored fabrics?

VersiFlex Light transfer paper is designed for white and light-colored substrates only. For dark garments, VersiFlex Dark media is required and sold separately.

Does the bundle include 11" x 17" transfer paper?

This bundle includes 8.5" x 11" VersiFlex Light paper (50 sheets). The SG1000 supports 11" x 17" media, but that paper size is sold separately. Search VersiFlex Light 11x17 to add it to your order.
